Star Wars Journal: Amidala

Title: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace Journal Amidala
Author: George Lucas and Ghost Writer
ISBN Number: 0590521012
Genre: Science Fiction
Age Range: 9+
Summary: Part of the reason why the Star Wars universe is so much is because of the fact that besides the movies being for people of all ages, Star Wars has books for all of the ages as well. There are the adult books that focus on post-Return of the Jedi era and beyond and for children there are books about Anakin's (Darth Vadar)'s struggle of becoming a Jedi Knight. This particular novel focuses on one of the most developed characters of the new trilogy, Queen Amidala. Amidala, also known as the handmaiden Padme, discusses her journey to being the youngest queen that Naboo has ever had and also highlights her back story. I always find it interesting to read books about my favorite characters because it gives them a depth and humanizing feature that I did not find in them before. While this book does have illustrations that highlight her beautiful gowns and her disguise as a handmaiden for security purposes, it really gives a voice to Natalie Portman's character and inspires girls everywhere to be strong and fight for what she believes in. Books like It: Episode I Journal Anakin's Story
