Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen

Title: Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen
Author:  Serena Valentino
ISBN Number: 1423106296
Age Range:  10+
Genre: Fantasy, Fairytale, Disney
Summary: Fairest of All:  A Tale of the Wicked Queen is a story of how the evil queen from Disney's Snow White is in fact extremely human. The story starts as the Queen marries Snow White's father and she treasures the little girl and absolutely adores her. The Queen continues to love the child, however, she begins to feel more and more threatened by Snow White because of her beauty and kindness. Her subjects in the Kingdom begin to like Snow White more than her. When her Magical Mirror informs her that while the Queen is beautiful, Snow White is the fairest in the land. That is the final straw and she sends out the Huntsman to murder her and bring back her heart. However, Snow White escapes and goes to live with the seven dwarfs. This was an extremely fascinating story to read just because it fleshes out the Evil Queen's character. All we get from the film is that the Queen is pure evil. We do not in fact have any humanizing qualities. This is a great story to read to know more all about your favorite characters. The author is supposedly going to write one about Maleficent as well, so I cannot wait for it.
What's Like It:  The Grimm Brother's Fairytales, Snow White, anything by Disney, Snow White and the Huntsman
