What's It About/What's Great About It:Meg Cabot is really a staple in the preteen world. With books from The Princess Diaries to Teen Idol, Meg Cabot is a great writer of creating strong female characters. Jess Mastriani is no exception. Jess is a normal girl who wants nothing more than to ride a Harley and date the much older Rob, who is out of her league. However, Jess' world is completely turned upside down when she is struck by lightening and can find dead people. Jess is taken by force by the FBI and is forced to use her powers to help find missing people. It is a really fun story about how it is okay if girls do not want to be prom queen, but actually, she fights for her brother's honor who attempted to commit suicide. Jess is not the normal girly, girl but really aspires girl to come into their own. This is a great beginning to a five book sequel that shows how Jess evolves, how her relationship with very cute bad boy Rob and conventions in High School are going to be destroyed. I really would recommend this book to any young tween girl who is trying to find their way.
