Summary:Matilda is the story of a young girl who has been neglected by her parents. So, instead of reveling in the misery of all this, Matilda has decided to teach herself to read by the age of three, and has focused on becoming as knowledgeable as she can. As Matilda grows and enters first grade, Miss Honey takes a special liking to her and realizes how incredibly intelligent Matilda actually is. However, Miss Honey a great first grade teacher who believes in fun and color must hide all the pictures and fun from the evil Principal Trunchbull, an extremely large women who demands order. Miss Honey also attempts to reason with Principal Trunchbull and Matilda's parents that Matilda is gifted, however, they do not listen to her at all. Finally, when Matilda witnesses Principal Trunchbull treating kids horribly, Matilda's special powers are revealed. When Miss Honey informs Matilda that Principal Trunchbull is really her aunt who took her beautiful house and all her money, Matilda takes it upon herself to get rid of Principal Trunchbull. She does succeed, however, Matilda finds out that her parents are running to Spain to escape the cops from Matilda's father's dealing as a shoddy used car salesman. Matilda asks her parents to allow her to stay with Miss Honey who willingly adopts her and Matilda transforms from a neglected child to a treasured and beloved child, which a child is actually supposed to be.
