Summary: City of Bones is a story about a girl named Clary who lives a seemingly normal life. She loves art, manga and hangs out with her best friend Simon. However, her seemingly normal life is turned upside down when Clary sees three people, two boys and one girl, kill someone. However, the someone disappears. It turns out that the person is actually a demon and that the three of them are really shadowhunters, protectors of New York City and born of the Angel Raziel. The Shadowhunters protect the Mundanes (aka Muggles, HAHA) from the demons and restore order. Clary does not know anything of this world. However, when her mother is attacked, it turns out that she actually is a shadowhunter, on the flee from the warlord Valentine who believes in a pure world full of Shadowhunters, no Downworlders such as warlocks, demons and vampires. Before Clary knows it, she is drawn into a war against Valentine and his lust for power. Clary becomes involved with Jace, however, it turns out that Jace and Clary are actually brother and sister. Cassandra Clare of Harry Potter fanfic fame spins an interesting tale of good vs. evil. Cassandra Clare has a lot of controversy surrounding her with the claims of prejudice of stealing full passages from other people's work, which actually is plagiarism. Clare does borrow from passages of her own fanfic, which is not necessarily bad, but it is slightly controversial. However, Clare spins a great tale and really captures an audience in Clary's evolution of becoming a warrior and protector of Mundanes.
